Equipment Loan Application
Tell us about your research project and team
In 2-3 plain-language sentences, describe the purpose and focus of your project. This summary may appear on the ANSIR website or data portals. Avoid acronyms and technical jargon.
Describe the scientific goals of the project. What key research questions are being addressed, and how will ANSIR equipment help answer them? This section may include technical terms and will be reviewed by the Access Committee.
Press Enter after each keyword. Examples: passive seismic, crustal structure, Yilgarn
Project timeline and field location details
Include adequate time before and after fieldwork for equipment testing, troubleshooting, and return shipping. Broadband seismic deployments typically require 12+ months of recording time for teleseismic studies.
When do you need equipment delivered/available? Allow time for pre-deployment testing.
When will equipment be returned to ANSIR? Include time for retrieval and shipping.
Use the drawing tools on the map to outline your study area. You can draw a polygon, rectangle, or place a marker.
Click the polygon or rectangle tool to draw your study area. Click the trash icon to remove shapes.
Have you considered anthropogenic or environmental noise (for example traffic, wind, industry, or ocean microseism) at your proposed sites? Noise levels can affect data quality and site selection.
Some field locations may require cultural heritage assessments or other clearances before fieldwork can commence.
Select your research method(s) and the equipment you need
Select your primary research method(s). Equipment options below will update based on your selection.
Select instrument types and specify quantities. Equipment shown depends on your selected method(s).
Outline any ancillary equipment or quantities the matrix above does not capture, for example solar panels, GPS units, cabling, enclosures, or field laptops.
Briefly describe your team's experience with geophysical fieldwork and similar equipment. This helps us assess training needs and deployment support.
Do you or your team require training or technical assistance for this deployment?
ANSIR strives to accommodate all reasonable equipment requests. However, availability depends on current bookings, maintenance schedules, and operational constraints.
Data management plans and required declarations
ANSIR requires that raw data collected using ANSIR equipment be archived in an appropriate long-term repository. This ensures data is preserved, discoverable, and available for future research.
Raw data from ANSIR equipment must be archived in the following repositories based on data type:
Note: You may also retain copies of your data in your own institutional repositories.
Seismic deployments require an FDSN network code. Indicate whether you already have one or need a new code registered. ANSIR can assist with registration.
Provide your existing FDSN network code for this or related deployments.
To ensure data quality and discoverability, the following must be provided with your data submission:
Indicate the current funding status of this project.
Select the outputs you expect this project to produce. This helps ANSIR report on the research supported by its equipment.
The borrowing institution and I undertake that:
Upload any additional supporting documents. PDF files only, up to 5 documents, maximum 10MB each and 10MB in total.
